REASON FOR LOSS:

Taking off at 11:00 hrs on a navigation / fuel consumption test flight when the weather was described as fine.

The aircraft was flying in very poor visibility and, according to the accident report, pilot was flying at a low altitude in hilly country, when it crashed at Brayspool, Ponterbryd, Cardiganshire at 12:30 hrs. The enquiry held on the 07th March 1942 stated that at the time of take off the weather report confirmed that it was quite in order for the flight to take place.

F/O. David Campbell Anderson. Aberystwyth Cemetery Sec. 18. Grave 851. Born on 05th March 1914 the son of David and Florence Campbell Anderson, of Wilson Street, Horsham, Victoria, Australia. Grave inscription reads: “Duty Nobly Done. Remembered At Home.”

Fl/Sgt. Gordon Robert Duncan. Aberystwyth Cemetery Sec. 18. Grave 864. Son of Orval Stanley and Margaret Beatrice Duncan, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Grave inscription reads: “Their Name Liveth For Evermore.”

Sgt. John Hammond Harker. Hebden (St. Peter) Churchyard. Grave 3. Son of Richard Watson Harker and Elizabeth Harker, of Grassington, husband of Muriel Harker, of Grassington, Yorkshire, England.

Sgt. Ronald Hodgson. Norton Cemetery. Grave 253D. Son of John and Laura Hodgson, of Norton, Malton, husband of Kathleen Mary Hodgson, of Ainderby Steeple, Hambleton, Yorkshire, England.
